After the completion of the first Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge; Tiangxingzhou Bridge is the second combination bridge across Yangtze River. The total investment is about 11 billion yuan. The total length of 4,657 meters for the bridge has set a number of “World’s First” records.
For this project, the self-climbing hydraulic formwork was used for the construction of the main tower. The standard height for the construction is 4 metres and the height of the formwork is 4.3 metres. The first concrete pouring will be for shaped blocks.
Due to the large size of the pier under the beam, in terms of the slope steepness, it was recommended to assemble the formwork for one time and split the concrete pouring into two sessions; each concrete pouring session to be two metres high. The section height of construction is 4 metres high and cross-section of the pier is to be constructed in 48 layers.
